Representative Matters

  • YMCA of Greater Boston, Inc.

    Nutter represented YMCA of Greater Boston, Inc. in connection with a complex, three-party sale of a portion of 316-320 Huntington Avenue to PPC Land Ventures, Inc. and Northeastern University for a new dormitory, including complex easement agreements, conveyancing, and land use permitting matters.

  • Donor

    Nutter represented a donor in structuring the largest lead gift to a university to create a cutting-edge institute of study.

  • New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)

    Nutter created the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is now the federally recognized regional accreditor of post-secondary institutions for the six New England states. NECHE assumed the business functions of the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education, previously managed by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

  • Private College

    Nutter represented a private college in litigation regarding the use of restricted charitable funds.

  • Prominent University

    Nutter represented a prominent university in the transfer of one of its graduate schools to an unrelated organization.

  • Several Universities

    Nutter provided legal counsel to several universities on intellectual property matters, including patent, copyright, and trademark counseling services.

  • State and Regional Higher Educational Associations

    Nutter represented both state and regional higher educational associations in the corporate restructuring of their operations, including representation before applicable regulatory agencies.

  • University

    Nutter represented a university in connection with the sale of an 11-story building in Boston. The transaction included a three-year lease by the university of the building’s third floor, a right of first offer to lease additional space, and a license agreement relating to IT infrastructure.

  • Urban College of Boston

    Nutter represented Urban College of Boston (UCB) in its affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).
