Firm Joins Government Agencies, Legal Services Organizations, and Law Firms in Providing Pro Bono Legal Support to Small Businesses and Nonprofits

Nutter today announced it has joined the COVID Relief Coalition, joining other government agencies, nonprofits and law firms in providing services to help small businesses and nonprofits in Massachusetts gain access to emergency loans and other sources of relief. Law firm members of the Coalition are providing pro bono legal support to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Coalition assists small businesses and nonprofits in learning about and applying for emergency loans and other relief sources through a recently launched website. The website connects eligible small businesses and nonprofits with pro bono legal services provided by Coalition partners.

"Nutter is proud to work with government agencies, legal services organizations, and other law firms in providing needed legal services to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 virus," said Nutter Co-Managing Partner Liam O’Connell. Added Co-Managing Partner Michael Scott, "Nutter’s core values include a commitment to pro bono legal services and public service. During this challenging time, we hope our collective efforts will have a positive impact on these businesses and nonprofit organizations that are so important to our communities.”

Nutter Partners are working in prominent business and legal leadership roles with Coalition organizations, including Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Paul Ayoub, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Member Marianne Ajemian, Boston Bar Association Vice President Deb Manus, Boston Bar Association Council Member Ian Roffman, and Lawyers Clearinghouse Board Member and Immediate Past President Chris Lindstrom.

Nutter’s involvement with the Coalition is a natural continuation of the collaborative and leadership efforts of members of the Firm with other mission-driven organizations that include Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), Volunteer Lawyers Project, VETRN Inc., De Novo Center for Justice and Healing, Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project (PAIR), and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Nutter joins the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, City of Boston, The Boston Foundation, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and other law firms as Coalition partners.
