Kathy Williams, Ph.D., a partner in Nutter’s Intellectual Property Department and co-chair of the firm’s Life Sciences practice group, was quoted on IP strategies for diagnostics companies in BioCentury. In the article, “101 problems with patent eligibility,” Kathy said, “The Vanda opinion spent a lot of time comparing the claims with Mayo. What was critical in their view was that the Mayo claim said ‘a method of optimizing therapeutic efficacy’ rather than ‘a method of treatment’.”
