Seth Berman, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department and a leader of the firm’s Privacy and Data Security practice group, analyzed the intersection of cybersecurity and human resources in Nutter Insights. Seth outlined the steps that employers should take to minimize the risk of rogue insiders misappropriate intellectual property, financial data, and customer contact lists. According to Seth, preventing employee theft of company data is as much about changing a company’s culture as it is about adding technology. The key to creating a comprehensive insider threat program is to ensure that a company’s technical capabilities and culture of security complement each other.
