John Hartog and Susan von Herrmann, partners in Nutter’s Private Client Department, have again been selected as Top Estate & Wealth Management Lawyers by the Daily Journal, earning places on the publication’s 2026 list. The annual list highlights the California attorneys shaping how families plan for and transfer wealth. A companion special report profiled Susan and John, tracing their practices, areas of focus, and the engagements that have defined their careers.

Susan was among the first private client attorneys in California to represent same-sex couples as domestic partner rights emerged, and she continues to advise LGBTQ+ and blended families alongside a practice spanning sophisticated estate and tax planning, trust administration, and charitable giving.

John has spent nearly 47 years counseling clients on all aspects of trust and estate planning, and serves as lead consulting editor and co-author of the Matthew Bender treatise California Wills & Trusts.

The recognition follows their selection to the inaugural Lawdragon 100 Leading Global Wealth Lawyers and Nutter's expanded showing in Chambers High Net Worth 2026.
