Nutter’s David Ferrera Elected as President of Boston Bar Foundation
Print PDFDavid L. Ferrera, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department, has been elected President of the Boston Bar Foundation, the official charity of the Boston Bar Association committed to promoting justice by funding and promoting innovation in the delivery of legal services in underserved communities across Massachusetts.
Ferrera’s appointment begins a two-year term leading the BBA’s philanthropic arm as it expands its robust granting programs, public service projects, and pro bono work across Boston Bar members.
“We are thrilled to welcome David as the new leader of the Boston Bar Foundation as we advance our work of philanthropic leadership and lasting impact across communities in and around Boston,” said Rich Page Jr., President of the Boston Bar Association. “David’s commitment to the legal field, track record of leadership within the BBA and BBF, and deep passion for supporting Boston’s underserved communities makes him the perfect fit to guide the growth of our organization.”
As chair of Nutter’s Product Liability Practice Group, Ferrera draws upon 30 years of experience in Massachusetts federal and state courts to deliver pragmatic solutions in a wide variety of commercial matters for clients across the country. He has previously received “Excellence in Pro Bono” awards from both Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Volunteer Lawyers Project for his many years of service to the Greater Boston community, including his pro bono representation of residential tenants facing loss of their homes on both an individual basis and through the Massachusetts Eastern Housing Court’s “Lawyer for the Day” program.
“It is an honor to be elected to such an important and influential role within Boston’s legal community,” said Ferrera. “The Boston Bar Foundation has a rich history of commitment to public service through both innovative programming and critical initiatives that create a more just, equitable legal system. As President, I will uphold these values while ensuring our work continues, expands, and meets the growing need of underserved communities.”
Ferrera has previously served on the BBA’s Public Service Oversight Committee, the Boston Bar Foundation’s Investment Committee, and the Pro Bono Committee of the BBA’s Litigation Section. He is a long-time member of the BBF Grants Committee and served as Chair from 2019-2023.
