BPDA Veteran Eileen Brophy Joins Nutter, Bolstering Firm’s Growing Real Estate Practice
Print PDFEileen Brophy, the former interim General Counsel of the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA), has joined Nutter’s Real Estate Department and Development, Land Use and Permitting practice group. Brophy will provide legal counsel to clients on zoning, development, land use, and complex leasing matters. Having worked on notable matters for the BPDA over the last 23 years, Brophy possesses significant expertise in real estate and development projects in Boston.

Brophy brings a deep understanding of public policy and governmental review requirements. Her experience in public and private real estate development and project management will be incredibly valuable to Nutter’s clients as they initiate new projects in Boston. She will provide strategic advice to clients in an effort to streamline and expedite review. During this time of notable growth in Boston, clients can rely on Brophy’s expertise in complex contract law, real estate development, public policy and its impacts on project management and neighborhood revitalization. Additionally, she will advise clients on regulatory compliance, real estate tax implications and exemptions, urban renewal regulatory controls, and large-scale permitting and zoning matters.
As a senior advisor at the BPDA since 2000, Brophy held roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, Brophy was the interim General Counsel at the BPDA, where she was responsible for the management and review of all legal aspects of all real estate transactions and development projects under review by the Agency. Most recently, she coordinated and supervised external legal services, lead legal review of governance and transformation; handled project monitoring that ensured compliance with Agency rules and regulations and provided legal advice on real estate matters pertaining to the sale, lease, or license of Agency assets and properties.

Brophy regularly presents on land use, zoning, and urban renewal topics. She earned her J.D. from Massachusetts School of Law and her B.S. from Bridgewater State University.
