Mike Burke, a partner in Nutter’s Real Estate Department, will be one of several recipients of the sixth annual David Sherman Community Award from the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA on August 15. The award honors community leaders who have provided extraordinary commitment and service to the overall vitality of the community that is served by the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA. Mike served as a board member of the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA for over a decade, during which a new state-of-the-art YMCA was planned and constructed. The new YMCA currently serves thousands of members in the communities of Marblehead, Swampscott, and Salem.

An avid supporter of charitable organizations, Mike serves on the board of directors of the Boston Local Development Corporation, which provides financing to small businesses in the neighborhoods of the City of Boston. In the past, he also served on the board of overseers of the Greater Boston Aid to the Blind. Mike’s community involvement has also included his roles as one of the Founding Leaders of the Duke Law Club of New England, former elected member and chairperson of the Swampscott School Committee, and former elected Swampscott Town Meeting member.
