Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Recognizes Nutter Attorney Team for Commitment to Pro Bono WorkPrint PDF
Mary K. Ryan, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department, and Mara A. O’Malley, an associate in the Litigation Department, were featured in an editorial in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly regarding their commitment to pro bono work with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). The editorial, “Time again to reflect on good work legal community does,” discussed the work of Mary, who serves as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Working Group on Unaccompanied Minor Immigrants, and Mara, with KIND on a Supreme Judicial Court amicus brief that addressed the issue of relief for immigrants between 18 and 21 suffering from parental abuse, abandonment or neglect.
KIND, founded by Angelina Jolie and Microsoft Corp., serves as the leading organization for the protection of children who enter the U.S. immigration system alone and strives to ensure that no such child appears in immigration court without representation. KIND achieves fundamental fairness through high-quality legal representation and by advancing the child’s best interests, safety, and well-being.
