Nichole Shustack and Isabelle Cunningham, a partner and associate, respectively, in Nutter’s Corporate Department and the Food and Beverage group, were guest authors in the recent edition of Brewbound Voices. In the article, “3 Ways to Optimize a Craft Beer M&A Deal (And 2 Big Mistakes to Avoid),” Nichole and Isabelle discuss best practices and common mistakes for buyers, sellers, and consolidators when approaching craft beer M&A transactions given the current market saturation, shifting consumer preferences, and rising tariffs challenging brewers.

They note that “between the complexity of federal and state regulations under which breweries operate, and the unique cultures and ‘ways of working’ that predominate in the craft beer industry, craft beer M&A participants need to take a thorough approach to compliance, deal structuring and due diligence to navigate a successful merger that satisfies both parties.”
