Seth Berman Authors Article on Mitigating Legal Risk While Deploying AI in LegalDive
Print PDFSeth Berman, the leader of Nutter’s Privacy and Data Security practice group, wrote an article discussing the rollout of AI among organizations and how they can protect themselves while implementing it in LegalDive. In the article, “Mitigating legal risk while AI laws play catch-up,” Seth notes that organizations will need to be proactive, as, “if an organization’s use of AI invades someone’s privacy or acts in a manner that violates anti-discrimination laws, the organization can expect to be held liable, even if none of its employees was aware of what the AI was doing.”
Seth outlines steps that organizations should consider, including creating an internal governance structure to review the legal implications of a new AI implementation; reviewing how their use of AI could impact existing laws and regulations; and being mindful of evolving AI regulations.
