Paul Ayoub, a partner and member of Nutter’s Executive Committee, was highlighted for his leadership in Small Business Strong (SBS) in a promotion for SBS in the Boston Business Journal. As a Steering Committee member, Paul plays a key role in advising this nonprofit that was created to assist, without cost, minority- and women-owned small businesses in navigating the pandemic’s devasting impact.

An interdisciplinary team of Nutter attorneys and staff members contributed to the SBS initiative, one of the projects that grew out of the firm’s membership in the COVID Relief Coalition. Nutter attorneys not only offered their pro bono legal services to CRC and SBS businesses and nonprofits, they also were involved in advising in the launching of SBS. Among other roles, Nutter provided guidance with respect to the nonprofit tax and governance structure of SBS and helped establish its trademarks and branding, privacy policies, and website terms of use. Other key contributors from Nutter included Pat Concannon, Kristin Leary, Chris Lindstrom, John Loughnane, Melissa Sampson McMorrow, Ellie Myers, and Armand Santaniello.

In the feature, Paul said, “[SBS] will be valuable, even in better economic times, to help existing and future small businesses overcome obstacles they face in becoming strong and vibrant members of our community.”

Small Business Strong provides expedited, pro bono resources to small businesses ranging from access to capital to consulting (including PPP loans), business restructuring, business growth, digital marketing, legal advice, and customer engagement plans. The organization is committed to providing struggling small business owners support, assistance, and guidance that they would not otherwise have access to in these difficult and isolating times as they navigate the public health crisis.

Earlier this year, the Boston Business Journal named Paul to its Power 50 for 2020: Extraordinary Year, Extraordinary People in recognition for his leadership in the Boston business community in the face of extraordinary challenges this year, including his involvement in Small Business Strong.
