Matt Hanaghan, of counsel in Nutter's Corporate Department and a member of the Banking and Financial Services group, discussed the FDIC’s “Consumer Compliance Supervisory Highlights," its annual recap of consumer compliance issues identified through the FDIC's supervision of approximately 3,000 state-chartered insured depository institutions that are not members of the Federal Reserve System, in Law360.

In the article, “Takeaways From FDIC's Spring Supervisory Highlights,” Matt took a closer look at the consumer compliance violations most frequently cited by FDIC examiners last year and changes in compliance and enforcement trends compared to 2022. He also provided three suggestions for senior management and directors of FDIC-supervised institutions about what in his judgment are some of the most important compliance priorities to consider in order to avoid criticism from FDIC examiners and related compliance liabilities in the near future.
