Mary Ryan, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department and a member of the Development, Land Use and Permitting practice group, commented on a Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) ruling that provides helpful guidance for judges, attorneys, and litigants in summary process cases in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. In the article, “SJC Decision may aid push for Right to Eviction Counsel,” Mary said, “You could use [the decision] as Exhibit A as to why you need a right to counsel for landlords and tenants. Otherwise, you just can’t be certain that justice will be done in a system that has this degree of intricacy.”
