Nutter hosted the program “The New Form 990:  What Every Board Member of a Public Charity Should Know” on June 25. The program provided insights and recommendations for board members regarding the impact of the overhauled IRS Form 990, which is no longer merely a financial reporting vehicle, but now a window into governance policies and program successes, readily available on the Internet for all to see.

The expert panel provided recommendations on how board members can best prepare for the disclosures that the new form requires from their organizations -- including understanding the disclosures that are likely to be asked of them as individuals -- and capitalize on the public relations opportunities that the new form presents. Panel members included:

  • Michael K. Durkin, President and Chief Executive Officer, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley
  • Michael J. Bohnen, President, Adelson Family Charitable Foundation
  • Julia Satti Cosentino, Partner, Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP
  • Geri Denterlein, President, Denterlein Worldwide
