Cyberattacks and the legal landscape about them are constantly changing. The past year has seen an explosion of ransomware attacks, credible threats against major infrastructure, massive consumer breaches, and continued financial scams. At the same time, the legal landscape has radically changed. In the U.S., state Attorneys General, the FTC, the SEC, HHS, and others have all gotten more aggressive in responding to breaches. In the EU, GDPR has come into effect, creating Europe’s first universal breach reporting requirement. The session will explore how cyber incidents are investigated after they are discovered.
