Overview

David Yu is an associate in Nutter’s Private Client Department. He advises clients on a full range of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters.

David prepares estate plans for clients from a variety of financial and cultural backgrounds, including multigenerational blended families, technology executives with sizable equity compensation, married and un-married same-sex couples, and high net worth international families and individuals with cross-border assets and beneficiaries. He advises clients on income, gift, estate, and property tax savings strategies, entity formation, and charitable giving. He routinely prepares foundational and advance estate plan documents, from basic revocable trusts to special needs and charitable split interest trusts. Additionally, David practices in the area of probate and trust administration, representing fiduciaries in the post-mortem management of estates and trusts.

Active in several professional organizations, David is a member of the East Bay Trusts and Estates Lawyers (EBTEL) and serves as article editor of Trust and Estates Quarterly. He also volunteers with the IRS’s Income Tax Assistance Program.

During law school, David was a judicial extern with the Hon. Mary Wiss at the San Francisco Superior Court’s Probate Department. He also served as senior articles editor at the Hastings Business Law Journal.
