Writing for Security Magazine, Seth Berman Analyzes Uber Data Breach

Seth Berman, a partner and leader of Nutter’s Privacy and Data Security practice group, authored an article that addressed Uber’s response to a data breach for Security Magazine. In the article, “How Cyber Criminals Took Uber for a Ride,” Seth discusses Uber’s recent data breach and how the ride-sharing company handled it. He elaborates on how Uber should have handled the data breach (immediately reporting it instead of keeping it secret for more than a year). According to Seth, if there is one lesson for executives in the wake of Uber’s breach it is this: ignoring or hiding a reportable data breach is not a viable option.
