Rory P. Pheiffer, a partner and the deputy chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, and Jeffrey Klayman, a partner in the Intellectual Property Department, will present at MIT Technology Licensing Office's Speaker Series on January 21, 2021. Their presentation, "Patent Prosecution 101: How to Work with Your Patent Attorney & MIT TLO," will explore the process of patent application filing and prosecution, including:
- Overview of considerations made when determining what type of intellectual property protection to pursue and why;
- What to expect when discussing a patent application with a patent attorney (how to prepare and what information you should plan to provide during the patent application drafting process);
- Understanding how patent claims are drafted by your attorney according to the requirements of patent examination entities; and
- What the prosecution of your patent entails and how you can play a part in the process of negotiating with the patent examiner to obtain an issued patent.
