Seth Berman, Dave Powsner, and Heather Repicky to Present at the LES 2018 Annual MeetingPrint PDF
Seth Berman and Heather Repicky, partners in Nutter’s Litigation Department, and Dave Powsner, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, will speak on panels at the Licensing Executives Society (LES) 2018 Annual Meeting. More than 500 intellectual property professionals from across the United States and Canada will attend the conference.
Dave’s panel, “Funding Start-ups – The Boston Perspective,” will focus on investor logic and how entrepreneurs can effectively pitch across the country. The panelists will examine how regional differences, especially those between the West and East Coasts, constrain the practicalities of fundraising for the start-up.
Seth’s panel, “Managing Cross Border IP Enforcement: Hot Topic Issues in the United States, Canada and Europe,” will address the most current cross-border intellectual property issues and the ways in which they are being managed by courts and regulatory authorities in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The speakers will discuss patent exhaustion, international sourcing of patented products, divided infringement, and pre-trial discovery.
Heather’s panel, “Recent Developments & Best Practices in Determining Patent Damages,” will examine how determining patent damages has become increasingly complex in recent years, as a series of Federal Circuit have ultimately raised the level of complexity and uncertainty in determining what the potential damages may be in a given case. The panelists will provide practical takeaways that will give both litigators and licensing professionals a better understanding of how to identify and gauge the uncertainty regarding the damages that may be awarded in a patent case.
