Nutter sponsored The Capital Network’s (TCN) Venture Fast Track “All Day Trip to Funding” seminar on March 10. The program is an intensive, interactive full-day seminar designed to provide entrepreneurs and investors with an in-depth understanding of what it takes to raise early stage capital for a startup. Topics included term sheets, valuation, marketing and KPI, building your team, and pitching your company.

Several Nutter attorneys participated in the program, including:

  • Will Bernat, a partner in the Emerging Companies Group, presented on the “Tackling Term Sheets” panel, discussing common practices and pitfalls surrounding the use of term sheets and the current market terms for early-stage angel and venture investments.
  • Jeremy Halpern, a partner in the Emerging Companies Group, as well as a TCN board member, presented on the “Perfect Pitch” panel which focused on how to target, locate, approach, and close with venture capitalists, angels, and strategic investors.
  • David Rubin, a partner in the Labor, Employment and Benefits practice group, served on the “Building the Team” panel which focused on how to attract the team that will attract the money without having the money upfront, as well as what is a founder’s role on the management team and at what stage of the company growth would it be appropriate to have management reorganization.

Jeremy and Will also served as mentors during the entrepreneur-advisor matching lunch.
