Nutter hosts Labor, Employment and Benefits Breakfast Briefing “FLSA Changes Are Coming”

Print PDF

Nutter’s Labor, Employment and Benefits practice group will present “FLSA Changes Are Coming” on October 22. The U.S. Department of Labor has issued proposed regulations that would dramatically reduce the number of employees who qualify as exempt from federal overtime requirements. The proposed regulations would more than double the minimum salary now required for exemption and include a mechanism for future increases. The Department of Labor has also raised the possibility of eliminating the "primary duty" rule, and could require employees to spend more than half their time performing exempt duties to qualify for the exemption. Before these changes are implemented, employers should begin planning to be ready for their effect on the workforce and payroll.

David Rubin, David Henderson and Christopher Lindstrom, partners in the Labor, Employment and Benefits practice group, will review the proposed changes and discuss options to prepare for implementation.
