Tom Curry, a partner in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department and co-leader of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services group, spoke on a panel about fintech sandboxes at Boston FinTech Week, reported Financial Planning. In the article, “Why The Next Hot Fintech Might be Found in a Sandbox,” Tom discusses creating the Office of Innovation during his tenure as Comptroller of the Currency, stating, “We had to deal with the culture, build a firewall, and then provide expertise and modeling to a variety of credit and payment issues that the fintech field is very interested in providing value for. How does a regulator whose training and culture is to say no — and to observe critically after the fact — shift gears and be open to new ideas?”
