Overview
Sarah B. Gonsenhauser is an associate in Nutter’s Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on complex commercial, insurance, intellectual property, and bankruptcy litigation, as well as government and internal investigations across a variety of industries. Sarah has experience in various stages of litigation, ranging from drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs to conducting discovery and preparing for hearings and witness interviews.
Notable Experience and Client Impact
- Represented a technology research company against a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction attempting to limit First Amendment speech.
- Represented a lending financial institution in litigation seeking to void a debtor’s loan transfers under the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act.
- Represented pharmaceutical and technology companies in government and internal investigations concerning potential compliance issues, including negotiating settlements and implementing remediation measures.
- Represented insurance clients in connection with defense of coverage actions involving opioid, silica, overprocessed food, and personal injury claims.
- Represented technology and life sciences clients in patent infringement disputes.
Sarah is deeply committed to pro bono and community service. Her pro bono work includes drafting a First Circuit amicus briefing on behalf of national firearm-safety advocacy organizations, representing a special education student in an administrative hearing, and petitioning Massachusetts courts to seal clients’ criminal records.
Prior to joining Nutter, Sarah was a litigation associate at a midsize firm. Before that, she gained legal experience as a judicial intern for the Hon. Valerie Yarashus at the Massachusetts Superior Court and a legislative aide to State Representative Steven Ultrino at the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
During law school, Sarah served as article editor of the Suffolk University Law Review.
