Tom Curry Quoted on Thrift Charters in American Banker

Tom Curry, a partner in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department and co-leader of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services group, commented on the OCC pushing Congress to offer more lending flexibility for thrifts in American Banker. In the article, “OCC Puts Another Nail in Thrift Charter’s Coffin,” Tom says, “A lot of thrifts were converting to state commercial banks to get out from under the QTL test.” He further points out that the recent regulatory relief law will allow thrifts the flexibility to stay as a thrift but enjoy national bank powers.
