Nutter is pleased to announce it has been honored with Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston’s “Excellence in Partnership” Award this year. The award pays tribute to Nutter for its contribution of substantial and innovative pro bono legal services for MLP | Boston’s clients. MLP | Boston has pioneered a unique model in which lawyers partner with health care providers to improve quality of care and patient outcomes. The award was presented at MLP | Boston’s 5th Annual Conference.

“Nutter is highly deserving of this year’s ‘Excellence in Partnership’ Award,” said Samantha J. Morton, executive director of MLP | Boston. “The firm understands that, all too often, legal problems adversely impact the health and well-being of low-income individuals and families. Our partnership with Nutter has ensured that a growing number of people in Eastern Massachusetts can access ‘legal care’ to secure health-promoting benefits, services, and living conditions.”

“Nutter is grateful to MLP | Boston for this important recognition and proud of our collaboration with this great organization. MLP | Boston has led the way toward health equity and access to justice by referring pro bono lawyers to low-income patients who need legal remedies to solve their health-related concerns. MLP l Boston seeks to address the social determinants of health through legal advocacy; and we’re proud to be a part of the solution,” said Deborah J. Manus, managing partner of Nutter.

Nutter has had a long-standing partnership with MLP | Boston through its delivery of pro bono legal service over many years. Nutter attorneys have worked tirelessly to successfully advocate on behalf of MLP l Boston clients, contributing numerous pro bono attorney hours, and helping scores of patient-families become healthier in the process. This year, Nutter’s partnership with MLP l Boston expanded even further through an “in-kind” contribution of office space and technology, allowing the program to focus on growth during a period of change and opportunity in the health equity landscape.
