Nutter partner Robert A. Fishman, a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Finance Department and chair of the Land Use, Permitting and Development Practice Group, was selected as a “CJP Superstar” by Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, Inc. (CJP) in recognition of his outstanding positive impact in the community. Fishman has actively supported CJP in a variety of roles for more than two decades. He chaired the Lawyers and Accountants Team for many years, and also served on CJP’s Board of Governors and its Commission on Caring and Social Justice.

According to CJP, “Bob adds incredible value” and is “always strategic in his approach.” In 2008, Fishman received the prestigious Community of Excellence Award from CJP in recognition of his contributions to both the broader community and the legal profession.

Fishman serves as lead counsel at Nutter for CJP, a longtime firm client. He focuses his practice on development, land use/environmental permitting, acquisition and disposition, financing, leasing, entity formation, and conveyancing. Developers, lenders, corporate, institutional, municipal, and nonprofit clients all rely on his counsel in the development and financing of mixed-use projects, downtown office buildings, suburban industrial and office parks, shopping centers, hotels, multifamily housing, senior assisted living housing and community facilities. Fishman regularly advises clients on mixed-use, smart growth projects which incorporate sustainability and energy conservation features.

A leader in the real estate industry, Fishman was elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1991. He is a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and the Boston Advisory Board of the Urban Land Institute. Fishman chaired NAIOP’s Public Affairs Committee and represented NAIOP on both the Governor’s Zoning Reform Task Force and recent proposed zoning legislation. He has received NAIOP’s Public Affairs Award three times for his work on legislative and administrative matters of importance to the real estate industry. Fishman is listed in Band 1 (the highest ranking) for both real estate transactional work and zoning / land use work in the well-regarded Chambers USA legal directory.

CJP is the central fundraising and planning arm of Boston’s Jewish community, supporting over 80 social service agencies. CJP brings together the people, partners, and resources to fulfill the most important needs and aspirations of the community. Rooted in compassion and justice and driven by innovation, CJP cares for the vulnerable, forges strong connections with Israel, and inspires the next generation to embrace Jewish life and learning.
