MetroWest Legal Services (MWLS) will present Nutter with a special award in recognition of the firm’s invaluable support and guidance to MWLS and their clients at its 40th Anniversary Celebration “Honoring 40 stars for 40 years” on October 19. Nutter will be honored for its deep involvement with MWLS, including providing significant pro bono representation and the ongoing commitment of the firm’s partners to the organization. The event, which will feature Congressman Joseph Kennedy III as speaker, recognizes honorees for their contributions to the success of MWLS.
Michael A. Leon, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate and Finance Department, and a member of the Land Use, Permitting and Development practice group, has served as co-chair of MWLS’s Fundraising Committee for over two decades. His leadership has been instrumental in MWLS growing its fundraising significantly. Mary K. Ryan, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Land Use, Permitting and Development practice group, is recognized for her advocacy for increased access to justice in the pro bono forum and leading the charge on Civil Gideon, as well as being an inspiration to the legal aid community.
MWLS’s mission is to provide legal advocacy to protect and advance the rights of the poor, elderly, disabled, and other disenfranchised people in its service area and to assist them in obtaining legal, social, and economic justice. MWLS helps clients secure access to basic needs and challenge institutional barriers in order to achieve equal justice for all.
