Nutter is pleased to host a breakfast with the Honorable Monica Tibbits-Nutt, Secretary and CEO of the Department of Transportation, about transportation and its impact on the Commonwealth’s economy and its competitiveness with other states and regions. Secretary Tibbits-Nutt will discuss the initiatives that transportation officials and employers are undertaking to make commuting easier for employees in the short and long term; the alternatives, policies, and practices that will improve commuting; and the role of the business community in making the MBTA more reliable and the roads less congested in order to encourage employees to return to the office.

A properly operated, managed, funded, and maintained transportation system is vital to our economy and quality of life in the Commonwealth. Recently, Governor Healey created a task force of business leaders, government officials (including Secretary Tibbits-Nutt and others), and labor leaders to find long-term sustainable funding for transportation in Massachusetts. The task force will also consider ways that businesses can be helpful beyond revenue.

This important and timely conversation will address the Healey administration’s transportation strategies and policies.
