Natalie Choate Presents at Baltimore Estate Planning Council Breakfast

Natalie Choate, a member of Nutter’s Trusts and Estates Department, will present a two hour seminar at the Baltimore Estate Planning Council’s (BEPC) “BEPC Breakfast Program - When Insurance Product Meet Retirement Plans and Death & Taxes: The Inherited Retirement Plan” in Baltimore, MD on September 20. Natalie will present “When Insurance Products Meet Retirement Plans,” which discusses how to “roll out” an insurance policy at retirement, the three valuation rules for plan-owned annuities, which products cannot be held in a plan or IRA, abusive transactions to avoid, and planning uses for insurance and annuity products. She will also present “Death & Taxes: The Inherited Retirement Plan” which explains the issues to consider when advising survivors, including disclaimers, titling the account, minimum required distributions, estate tax valuation problems, establishing separate accounts, plan-to-plan transfers, the IRD deduction, advising a surviving spouse, and cleanup strategies when the decedent name “the wrong” (or no) beneficiary.
