Overview

Daniel C. Johnston is an associate in Nutter’s Real Estate Department. His practice focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate, including real estate financing, leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, development and permitting, liquor licensing, renewable energy projects, and litigation. Daniel also has particular experience navigating the Boston Planning & Development Agency’s (BPDA) Article 80 review process.

Whether the project involves commercial developments and redevelopments, retail, shopping centers, renewable energy projects, or liquor licensing, Daniel has frequently negotiated, drafted, and closed purchase and sale agreements and licensing applications and appeared before municipal licensing boards.

Daniel is a member of NAIOP Massachusetts and the Boston Bar Association. He has written articles and lectured on leasing and other commercial real estate topics and is currently an adjunct professor at Boston University School of Law.

Prior to joining Nutter, Daniel was a real estate associate at a New England-based law firm. Before that, he was a real estate associate in the Boston office of a national law firm.

During law school, Daniel interned with both the Office of the General Counsel of the BPDA and the Environmental Crimes Strike Force in the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General. Prior to law school, Daniel served in the Obama Administration as the Acting Special Assistant to the Associate Director for Land & Water Ecosystems at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and interned with both U.S. Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA-36) and U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA).
