Nutter Represents The Living Apothecary in $1.4 Million Financing

Nutter advised The Living Apothecary, a probiotic water kefir maker based in Oakland, California, in a $1.4 million financing round led by L.A. Libations and Venice Brands. LivWell Ventures also participated in the round. Will Bernat, co-lead of the Food and Beverage group and co-chair of the Emerging Companies Group at Nutter, and Josh French, of counsel in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department, led the deal team, which also included Meghan Kelly, an associate in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department; Crescent Moran Chasteen, of counsel in Nutter’s Tax Department; and Jeremy Halpern, co-lead of the Food and Beverage group and co-chair of the Emerging Companies Group.

Founded in 2012, The Living Apothecary is dedicated to bringing health and nourishment to local communities through artisan, small-batch crafted beverages. With this funding round, the company will expand in several keys areas, such as moving to a new 23,000 square foot facility, investing in marketing and merchandising, and growing its sales, finance, and production team.
