Nutter announced the addition of partner Nichole D. Shustack, former Corporate Counsel at the Boston Beer Company, as part of its ongoing expansion of its Food and Beverage group. Shustack advises companies in the alcohol beverage industry on federal and state regulations, trade practices, commercial agreements, and distribution matters. She joins Nutter from McDermott, where she was a partner in the Alcohol Regulatory & Distribution group. Shustack will be resident in Nutter’s New York office.

“Nichole’s arrival aligns with our strategy to further bolster our highly regarded Food and Beverage group,” said Michael Scott, Nutter’s co-managing partner. “Nichole is an exceptional lawyer whose expertise in the alcohol beverage industry will enhance our capabilities to best serve clients.”

Drawing on her experience as in-house counsel at the Boston Beer Company, Shustack brings a unique perspective on the challenges that corporate counsel often face. Brewers, distillers, and wineries rely on Shustack for legal advice on critical legal, regulatory, and distribution issues. She counsels companies on trade practice compliance matters and marketing programs and materials to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws, including Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and FDA regulations. Shustack also oversees commercial agreements in connection with machinery, capital equipment, ingredients, packaging, and goods and services to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations on the production of alcoholic beverages. She frequently writes about compliance and other alcohol beverage regulatory matters.

“Nichole combines a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with savvy business acumen to help her clients navigate the complex and heavily regulated alcohol beverage industry and grow their businesses,” said Matthew Doring, chair of Nutter’s Corporate Department. “We are thrilled to welcome her to our Food and Beverage team.”

Shustack is a member of the board of directors of the Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation and the vice president of the Drexel Park Homeowner Association. She received the Professional Excellence Award: ESG Impact from The Legal Intelligencer. Shustack earned her J.D. from Widener University School of Law and her B.A. from Villanova University.
