The Boston Business Journal publishes “Courting Innovation and Growth” by John LoughnanePrint PDF
John G. Loughnane, a partner in the firms’ Business Department, published “Courting Innovation and Growth” in the Boston Business Journal’s “ViewPoint” section on December 20. The article discusses how an important aspect of a successful innovation “ecosystem,” such as Massachusetts’, is access to an effective and efficient judicial system that allows seemingly intractable problems to be solved.
John notes that a region with a federal and state court system that can effectively help companies and stakeholders navigate past the inevitable roadblocks has a distinct competitive advantage. In 2012, the Commonwealth created a non-judicial position of Court Administrator to work with the chief justice of the Trial Court to oversee and make improvements within the state court system. John also notes that the business community should support these goals and the ongoing work to strengthen the courts, as a stronger judicial system will pay dividends not just for the courts but for the entire Commonwealth, including those who seek to locate their businesses in Massachusetts.
