Mary Marshall Appointed Boston Bar Foundation Representative to the IOLTA CommitteePrint PDF
Mary Marshall, a partner in Nutter’s Real Estate Department and co-chair of the firm’s Development, Land Use and Permitting practice group, was recently appointed to the Interest On Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Committee as a representative of the Boston Bar Foundation by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Her first three-year term begins on January 2, 2021 and will end on January 1, 2024.
The Supreme Judicial Court created the IOLTA program in 1985. It requires lawyers and law firms to establish interest-bearing accounts for client deposits which are nominal in amount or large amounts held for a short period of time. The pooled interest on IOLTA accounts makes improvements to the administration of justice and supports the delivery of legal services to low-income clients.
