John Loughnane Named to the 2020 Pro Bono Honor Roll by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of MassachusettsPrint PDF
John Loughnane, a partner in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department and the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Workout practice group, was recognized for his pro bono efforts in the 2020 Pro Bono Honor Roll by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts. Each year the Court recognizes those professionals who provide legal assistance, without compensation, to those who face substantial economic hardship (and often language barriers) so that they are able to navigate through the bankruptcy process. John’s volunteer efforts include co-chairing and volunteering for the M. Ellen Carpenter Financial Literacy Program, and providing counseling to individuals through Mass Legal Answers/ABA Free Legal Answers. John also regularly volunteers as a pro bono mediator for the Massachusetts District and Municipal Court system and has helped create and present panels this fall for the Bankruptcy Section of the Boston Bar Association. Those sessions are designed to increase the supply of pro bono mediators available to assist consumers in resolving an expected increase in economic issues arising from COVID-19.
The annual Honor Roll recognizes volunteers for their current and continued support in serving those in need who appear before the court.
