Ron Cahill, a partner and chair of Nutter’s Intellectual Property Department, commented on the significance of the oral argument in WesternGeco v. Ion Geophysical, a Supreme Court case regarding extraterritorial lost profit damages, in Managing Intellectual Property. In the article, “U.S. Supreme Court Hears Arguments on Extraterritorial Lost Profit Damages,” Ron said, “The Court was very interested in the global ramifications of this question – what effect would the answer have on international comity, and what would happen if 10 other countries adopted the same rule proposed in this case for collecting damages from foreign activities."
