Ronald Cahill quoted on patent infringement suit against AkamaiPrint PDF
The Boston Business Journal quoted Ronald Cahill, a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group, in “Akamai says infringement claim by Colo. firm bogus” on May 2. The article discusses a patent infringement suit filed by Two-Way Media LLC against Akamai Technologies Inc. alleging that Akamai based its audiovisual streaming technology on several patents developed by Two-Way’s founder.
Ron notes that while the Two-Way executive developed the patented technology, from all indications it is not actively using the patent. “Since RIM there have been limitations placed on the presumption of irreparable harm that has driven the injunctions,” said Ron. “It takes a little bit of the fight out of companies not actually using the patent.”
