Overview

Christine A. Docherty is a partner in Nutter’s Corporate and Transactions Department and a member of the Banking and Financial Services group. She focuses her practice on advising a wide range of banking clients – including community and regional banks and international banking companies – on supervision, enforcement and regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, the formation of new banks and charter conversions, master account access, discount window lending, and corporate reorganizations.

Christine also provides legal counsel on affiliate transaction restrictions, capital and liquidity requirements, corporate governance and internal controls, and compliance with financial services statutes and regulations, including the Dodd-Frank Act, the Volcker Rule, and recovery and resolution planning requirements. In addition, Christine performs M&A due diligence and negotiates agreements in connection with transactions.

Prior to joining Nutter, Christine was vice president and associate general counsel at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where she provided strategic legal advice to the Supervision, Regulation and Credit Department; Macrofinancial Steering and Asset Management Committees; and the Conference of Presidents’ Financial Stability Committee on macroprudential and microprudential policy matters. She recently completed an assignment with the United States Department of the Treasury, working on the implementation of financial assistance programs under the American Rescue Plan Act. Christine also advised on the administration and operation of Section 13(3) emergency lending facilities, which authorizes the Federal Reserve to lend to non-banking companies in emergencies. Before her tenure at the Federal Reserve, she was vice president and senior counsel at State Street Bank and Trust Company. Earlier in her career, Christine practiced law at a Boston-based international law firm and served as a law clerk at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Before Nutter
