Writing for Intellectual Property Magazine, Rory Pheiffer Analyzes Five Programs to Expedite U.S. Patent Prosecution

Rory P. Pheiffer, a partner in Nutter’s Intellectual Property Department, examined five United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) programs that allow applicants to advance the pace of patent prosecution in Intellectual Property Magazine. In the article, “Five readily available programmes to expedite US patent prosecution,” Rory evaluates the options—including prioritized examination, accelerated examination, petitions to make special, patent prosecution highway, and first action interview—and provides tips for determining which may be the best fit. He points out that while each program has requirements, every applicant is eligible to participate in at least one.
