Mary K. Ryan, a partner in Nutter’s Litigation Department, presented at the 32nd Annual ABA Pro Bono Publico Awards luncheon, held at the ABA Annual Meeting on August 6 in San Francisco. Mary recently concluded her six-year term on the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, including the last three years as Chair. “Since their inception, the Pro Bono Publico Awards have recognized the legal profession’s extraordinarily noteworthy contributions in providing critical pro bono legal services on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged, and to secure basic civil and public rights and liberties. The volunteer legal services provided by this year’s award recipients have indelibly improved, and sometimes saved, the lives of people living in poverty who are in need of access to justice and cannot otherwise afford legal representation,” Mary noted in her “Letter of Recognition” in the event’s program.

The Pro Bono Publico Awards program seeks to identify and honor individual lawyers and small and large law firms, government attorney offices, corporate law departments, and other institutions in the legal profession that have enhanced the human dignity of others by improving or delivering volunteer legal services to the nation's poor and disadvantaged. Nutter served as a sponsor of the event.
