Matthew Bresette is a partner in Nutter’s Private Client Department. He manages the firm’s Hyannis office and works out of both the Hyannis and Boston offices.   • Advise clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer and asset protection, including effective strategies for real estate interests and closely-held businesses
  • Work with families and individuals to create estate plans that incorporate the mission and values of the client
  • Help families and individuals create plans aimed at seamless transfer of assets, while reducing gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxes
  • Create specifically designed revocable and irrevocable trusts, life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, GRATs, family LLCs, family foundations, and other complex estate planning vehicles
  • Serve as fiduciary for client’s present and generational trusts
  • Assisted a farming family with the transfer of real estate to a non-profit for the purposes of providing affordable housing and incorporating the family’s mission to give back to the community over several generations

  • Served as a Guardian ad litem appointed by the Barnstable Probate & Family Court
  • Board member and past co-chair of South Coastal Counties Legal Services, which provides legal services for indigent clients for civil cases in Barnstable, Plymouth, Bristol, Nantucket, and Dukes Counties
  • Board member of the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund and the Cape Cod Foundation
  • Elected as moderator for the Barnstable Fire District in 2015

While in law school, Matt held a judicial clerkship for the Honorable Gary Nickerson of the Superior Court.
