Maestro sets sights on “best of the best” recognition and industry impact

Maestro Inc. was the first recipient selected for a Nutter TechnOvation Award.

Maestro is a wireless product development company specializing in consulting services and unique OEM products whose key goals are to be recognized as “the best of the best” and to design revolutionary, award-winning products that will have a lasting impact on the industries they serve. Maestro recently developed an important proprietary conferencing  product, a wireless microphone system that significantly improves common audio problems found in audio and video conferencing environments.

With the release of its new product and more ideas in the development stage, Maynard, Massachusetts-based Maestro wanted to restructure its business to provide the future ability to spin-off innovative products to maximize shareholder returns. To help Maestro reach its goal of becoming an industry leader, Nutter restructured Maestro into two different companies. The OEM, revenue-generating side of the business is now called Maestrolabs, and a new business was created, Revolabs, which develops proprietary products and represents the R&D side of the business. Maestro Inc. is the parent company.

While Maestro’s novel wireless microphone had already captured the attention of venture capitalists, the company sought legal guidance through the private equity minefield. Attracted by Nutter’s entrepreneur-friendly environment and the firm’s connections and experience in the VC industry, Maestro relied on Nutter’s expertise when closing its Series A financing. Since Maestro routinely deals with large sophisticated customers and manufacturers, the company’s founders also called on the firm’s IP depth to protect its existing portfolio and handle IP prosecution for products in development; thereby placing Maestro on an even playing field with larger companies

The restructuring of Maestro’s business was undertaken after examining the company’s unique business needs and taking into account its long-term strategic objectives. With its new business model, infusion of capital, and strong IP portfolio, Maestro is leading its business to the next level of success. It has been able to expand its operation, add key employees, and move forward with its first Revolabs product, a wireless personal microphone. The company wants to continue to move towards the next level, making decisions that will allow it to hit growth objectives, demonstrate a track record of year-over-year revenue, and successfully transition through the lifecycle of a start-up company.
