Overview
Sarah H. Manning is of counsel practicing in Nutter's Litigation Department in the firm's Hyannis office. Since 1991, Sarah’s primary focus has been on Massachusetts family law, divorce and post-divorce litigation, which include issues related to spousal and child support, property division, custody and parenting plans, modifications and contempt proceedings, mediation, separate support, pre-nuptial agreements and abuse/harassment prevention orders. Sarah assesses each person's individual needs and zealously advocates on their behalf to arrive at the best result for them in the most cost-efficient manner. Sarah is also a certified mediator who can assist her clients to a domestic relations action navigate their way toward a successful agreement that’s fair and reasonable to both parties. Sarah has represented parties in high asset divorce cases, including some Fortune 500 clients as well as those of more moderate means. Sarah understands that clients who find themselves caught in the emotional havoc of family law issues appreciate an attorney who will be honest and realistic with them regarding their expectations, and who will carefully explain each step of the process, work with each client as an individual, and dedicate her efforts toward reaching the best result possible. She will work closely with each client to determine whether alternative dispute resolution, negotiation, or litigation is the best avenue to follow. Her philosophy is to strive toward achieving an outcome that is fair and reasonable with a primary focus upon conserving assets and thus her aim is to be as efficient as possible in achieving that goal.
Sarah also has successfully navigated clients through several aspects of Probate Litigation including will contests, actions for accounting and division of a family businesses, petitions for partition, and claims arising from family shareholder litigation; unusual claims against payment or distribution by executors; special claims on behalf of fiduciaries, such as claims for return of stolen funds; and claims for heirs, such as claims for misappropriation or breach of fiduciary duty. She has been successful in prevailing for her clients on Motions for Summary Judgment and thus avoiding lengthy protracted litigation.
Sarah currently serves as president of the Barnstable County Bar Association. She serves on the executive board of WE CAN, a local organization helping Women in times of crises and transition as well as personally volunteering her services to clients of that organization. She also serves on the executive board of Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and the Islands, an organization assisting those in need of safe harbor from domestic violence, immigration assistance, etc. Sarah is a former executive board member of South Coastal Counties Legal Services. She also acts as a mentor to the domestic violence unit of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association and is also involved with the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section.
