David Sullivan is a partner in Nutter’s Business Department. With more than twenty-five years experience, he focuses his practice on all aspects of federal and state taxation, including advising clients from start-up through transactional, financing, and growth and exit strategies. He has represented closely-held and emerging businesses with an emphasis on structuring and implementing financing, venture capital, joint venture, merger and development transactions and in particular structuring tax advantaged investments including historic and low-income tax credit transactions and tax exempt bond financing transactions.

In addition to business tax planning, David has particular experience in tax controversies, audits and litigation, including trial work before the Federal Tax Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Appellate Tax Board, and has worked extensively with individuals in developing and integrating their estate, business and financial plans.

David is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court and in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Boston Tax Council and the Massachusetts Bar Association. David was named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the November 2004 and 2006 issues of Boston magazine. He currently serves on the Town of Hamilton, Massachusetts Zoning Board of Appeals.
