Robert D. Webb is the manager of Nutter’s Tax Department, chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee, former chair of the firm’s Hiring Committee and a member of the Labor, Employment and Benefits practice group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of employee benefits, ERISA and executive compensation law.
Rob represents employers and plan fiduciaries in all aspects of their pension, 401(k), ESOP, Roth arrangements, health and welfare benefits programs, as well as management and executives in the negotiation and enforcement of employment agreements. His experience includes the design, amendment, and compliance of retirement and deferred compensation arrangements, and in insured and uninsured health and welfare programs. Rob’s practice includes litigation of ERISA and compensation-related claims. He also counsels investment advisors for both publicly-traded and private companies and other investing entities on ownership issues related to ERISA plans.
Rob has written and spoken nationally on employee benefits and compensation, Code Section 409A, COBRA, PPACA and other health insurance regulation. His writing regarding executive retirement and deferred compensation arrangements, as well as federal and state health insurance mandates, has appeared in the Boston Business Journal. He has appeared on television and radio shows to discuss employment and employee benefit matters, and has been interviewed by The Boston Globe and BusinessWeek. His television, radio and Internet appearances include National Public Radio, Bloomberg, WBIX, WBZ–1030 AM’s “New England Business Day,” WGBH’s “Greater Boston with Emily Rooney,” New England Cable Network’s “Business Day” segment, and WCVB’s evening newscast.
Prior to joining the firm, he practiced in the area of employee benefits in New York City, and clerked in the Boston office of the Solicitor for the U.S. Department of Labor. He was an Edward Hennessey Scholar in law school and an editor of the American Journal of Law and Medicine.
