Nutter has a distinguished pedigree, being the firm founded by Louis D. Brandeis, who later was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, and his Harvard Law School classmate, Samuel D. Warren, scion of a prominent Boston family. The two opened their practice in 1879 and the firm was soon successful, trying cases before the Supreme Court, handling international patent filings and representing some of the major industries that were burgeoning in New England. The founding partners’ rich legacy continues to inspire and set an example for the firm.
