Thomas V. Powers is an associate in the Business Department and a member of the Banking and Financial Services and Emerging Companies practice groups. He works with a wide range of public and private companies, as well as investment advisers, investment companies, hedge funds and broker-dealers, on matters involving corporate finance, securities laws, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance.
Thomas’ recent representative experience includes assisting:
- A New Hampshire commercial bank in its $134 million acquisition by a Massachusetts bank
- A Massachusetts mutual savings bank in its $28.3 million acquisition of a Massachusetts-based national bank
- A national bank headquartered in New Hampshire in its $26.7 million acquisition by a federal savings bank
- A Boston-based private software integrator in its $12 million sale to a Nasdaq-listed company
Thomas gained previous legal experience working as an intern in the Boston office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert J. Kane of the Massachusetts Superior Court. Prior to attending law school, Thomas also worked as a paralegal in the broker-dealer and securities market regulation practice of a leading New York law firm.
During law school, Thomas served as an articles editor for the Review of Banking & Financial Law and as an assistant writing instructor for the school’s legal research and writing program.
