Michael D. Zabowsky is a partner in the Real Estate and Finance Department and has experience in real estate transactions both locally and nationally. He represents financial institutions, landowners, developers, landlords, tenants, limited liability companies, corporations and real estate trusts, and primarily handles financings, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing transactions and workouts. Mike’s projects include downtown office buildings, suburban office buildings and office parks, shopping centers, mixed-use developments, retail complexes and residential properties.
Mike’s representative transactions include:
- Assisting with the representation of a regional bank as lead lender on a combined $282 million construction/permanent financing of a mixed-use hotel, office, retail and residential project in the “NoMa” section of Washington, D.C.
- Assisting with the representation of a group of life insurance companies and regional banks on a $198 million construction/permanent financing of a mixed-use medical, retail and residential commercial condominium project in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston
- Assisting with the representation of a group of life insurance companies and regional banks on a $145 million construction/permanent financing of a mixed-use medical, retail and residential commercial condominium project in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston
- Assisting with the representation of a group of life insurance companies and pension funds on a $280 million construction/permanent financing for the redevelopment of Charles River Plaza, a mixed-use laboratory, medical and retail project in downtown Boston
- Representing a regional bank on a $185 million unsecured line of credit to a local real estate fund relating to properties in nine states
- Assisting with the representation of a life insurance company on several multi-million dollar construction/permanent financings secured by office buildings located in downtown Boston, medical buildings located in suburban Boston and a shopping center located in suburban Boston
- Assisting with the representation of a life insurance company on two $120-$175 million portfolio loans, secured by industrial properties located throughout the United States
- Representing an institutional REIT with the leasing of its New England real estate portfolio
- Representing a local company on the financing and acquisition of its headquarters in Plymouth, Massachusetts
Mike is a contributing author of a chapter of Massachusetts Mortgages, Foreclosures and Workouts published by MCLE and is a member of several organizations, including Real Estate Finance Association (REFA), the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB), the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Boston Bar Association.
