Matthew Bresette is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Department and works out of the firm’s Hyannis and Boston offices. He concentrates his practice on sophisticated estate planning for high-net-worth individuals, estate and trust administration, and guardianship and conservatorship matters.
Matt advises clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer and asset protection, including effective strategies for real estate interests. He helps families create estate plans aimed at transferring values to children and grandchildren, as well as reducing gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes by establishing specifically designed revocable trusts, life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, GRATs, family LLCs, family foundations and other complex estate planning vehicles.
Matt is the current president of the Barnstable Bar Association. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Cape Cod and has served as a Guardian ad litem appointed by the Barnstable Probate & Family Court. He is co-chair of South Coastal Counties Legal Services, which provides legal services for indigent clients for civil cases in Barnstable, Plymouth, Bristol, Nantucket and Dukes Counties. Matt serves on the Board of Directors of Cape Cod Child Development, Cape Cod Times Needy Fund and the Cape Cod Foundation.
While in law school, Matt held a judicial clerkship for the Honorable Gary Nickerson of the Superior Court.
